"Only by cutting the roots of this cursed tree of poverty you prevent it to grow any bigger - and us, women, are the first to suffer when it grows" said one of the women in our Allanblackia Women cooperative from Kribi, Cameroon.
September 5-7, 2015
daily between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM
100 Pier Avenue
Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
At this fair we will sell delicious Czech home-made cookies, organic Transylvanian honey, brought over all the way from Romania, ice-cold Cameroonian cocoa drinks and small art objects made by the children of our Allanblackia women...All the proceeds will finance "Allanblackia Women Project", aiming to cut the roots of the "poverty tree" at least for one small group of less fortunate women from Cameroon.
By empowering this group of 52 socially marginalized women from Kribi, all victims of a wide range of abuses, we give them a fair chance to work and render themselves economically independent. We will do that by turning their tiny, archaic operation of processing and selling Allanblackia based products into a modern, sustainable enterprise.
Besides addressing rampant unemployment among women in the target communities, this project takes a clear stand against the internal and international migration of vulnerable women and their children. In its first phase, it will generate minimum 80 jobs, with a special focus on young women still at risk from neighboring communities.
Necessary budget: a mere $ 30,000! With your priceless support, these women's dream will become a dignified reality.
