We have just concluded our evaluation visit to Cameroon! A fantastic country, where the people and the lands are oozing creative energy.
We have conducted a detailed on-site assessment of the organizational & technological needs of eight rural communities, covering an extended area spanning from the fishing communities on the West coast (at the Atlantic), to the vast farming fields of the Center.
We have visited communities with very diverse socioeconomic profiles and marred by chronic economic challenges. We have seen how the most preventable forms of poverty - in contexts where people have access to vast surfaces of incredibly fertile arable lands - have the most acute and dramatic manifestations.
The needs are extremely complex, but through a series of pragmatic and open dialogues with those concerned, we were able to identify a set of fast-paced turn-key solutions that would turn those communities into independent players on the domestic agricultural market. To bring all their ideas from a basic business-plan in a computer file to reality, they will need all the support that we can mobilize.
We are now in the drafting stage of three different projects that could be launched by the end of this year - provided that we will be able to find the necessary funding. For the funding stage, we will need your help. Every type of contribution is welcome, be it financial or in kind - most than anything else we will be needing modern agricultural technologies: tractors, trucks, refrigerated trucks, tools, motor-pumps, motor-boats, seeds, fertilizers, etc. If you think you can help, please don't hesitate to contact us. We will come back with outlines for each of the three projects.
